Jose Cadalzo started this petition to Mayor of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio

We are asking NYC Mayor, Bill De Blasio to honor Luis Alvarez with a key to the city.

Luis Alvarez, a retired NYPD bomb squad detective, died Saturday at age 53 from complications of colon cancer linked to the time he spent at Ground Zero.  Luis received unwanted recognition after he recently appeared before Congress and pleaded for them to extend health benefits to police officers, firefighters and other emergency workers who responded to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

While Luis would never ask for anything for himself, we, his friends and family, vow to continue his fight and to make sure the US government does what is right for all 9/11 first responders.  We also ask NYC to do the right thing too and honor a true American hero.
