I'm signing this petition because it is a symbol of racial brutality committed by forcibly removing people from their ancestral lands. We ask Mayor Ben Walsh to condemn these racist actions in the same way as he has condemned police brutality against black people.

I have been teaching the contrast between Columbus and Native Americans, including the myth and the actual history. I care deeply about this issue.

Columbus did not reflect indigenous. Please replace with Harriet Tubman statue. You have freedom trail and Underground Railroad history located across from Columbus and his racist self

It is about time that we stop clinging to our dark past as if it was a badge of honor. Let’s move in a different direction and lessen the divide in this country on race and money

We need to actively remove symbols that justify genocide and colonization, and question cultural assumptions about heros on pedestals. If Black and Indigenous lives matter, we must question the legacy of violence and extraction perpetrated by Columbus and other "discoverers" like him.

It's time to stop honoring this man who was directly responsible for the death of so many indigenous people.
