Why this petition matters

Started by Bob H

Trucks and Cars barrel down Highway 20 at speeds of 100-120km/h and more are creating excessive levels of pollutants and harmful noise levels affecting the health and well-being of neighboring houses,  apartment buildings and condos. This is in addition to pollutants and noise from the 3 sets of trains; CN, Via and the train de Banlieue to Vaudreuil-Dorion.

The mere reduction of speed will reduce the harmful emissions and make the Pointe-Claire neighborhoods a better environment for ourselves and our children.

Cutting speed significantly reduce emissions of pollutants, particularly reducing NOx and particulate matter (PM) output from diesel vehicles.

Public transportation is readily available and should be encouraged, speeding through Point-Claire is useless, originating in Dorion and slowing down in Lachine in both ways does not yield any significant results for the commute except in doubling the pollution.

The air we breath is precious and every reduction in pollutant particles helps. Our mental health promoted by a good quiet night sleep is paramount to our quality of life, productivity and sense of wellness.

Please act now and reduce the speed on highway 20 to 60-70km/h and hopefully the speed of trains too.

We know that you care about your citizens and we urge you please to act NOW.
