I love dogs and have adopted a stray myself. Indian dogs are very intelligent and make excellent pets. Please drive adoption programmes instead instead of culling programmes.
My earlier message got sent when I accidentally clicked the 'Enter' button, so am continuing it here... *Most important, spay and neuter the existing stray dogs, and also build clean shelters where they can be housed, fed, and taken care of during any medical needs. This will again help prevent spread of disease. Recruit vets to volunteer their time, and also employ people to help with this effort. This should have been done long ago, but anytime is a good time to start. Mass killing is not the solution -- think wisely and act intelligently
To the Mayor of Bangalore and BBMP: *Regularly clear garbage from ALL the city streets, not just the roads where VIP's travel! * Shut down meat shops that openly display meat, which is an attraction to stray dogs. *Spend time educating people not to ill-treat animals -- throwing stones at a dog, beating it, etc will only make them turn vicious. *Come up with more affordable animal clinics for people to take their dogs to get them spayed/neutered, and EDUCATE people of the importance of this procedure. This will help curtail further increase in the dog population of the city. Also stress on the importance of vaccinating pets, and make the vaccines more affordable to the common man. *
