William Sleeman started this petition to City of Taylorville

The City of Taylorville wishes to obtain a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) through the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program to substantially improve the ability of primary and middle school students (Grades Kindergarten though 8th) to walk and bicycle to school safely and promote a healthy environment.

The proposed sidewalk improvements will provide the following benefits:

  • Improve the safety of children walking and bicycling to school
  • Remove barriers restricting those with disabilities from walking and bicycling to school
  • Enable and encourage the physical activity of young children
  • Reduce childhood obesity
  • Encourage a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age
  • Lessen traffic congestion during peak times

These improvements will also make pedestrian movements around the City of Taylorville safer and passable for all citizens. without the grant funding, the proposed improvements will not happen.  community backing plays a big role in the decision to allocate grant funds so show your support and sign the petition!
