Mayor Armstrong and Wilmot Council: Remove 2 dogs from a man who dragged them behind his truck

On Thursday, April 26th a 63 year old man from Wilmot Township was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty after tying his two dogs to his pickup truck and dragging them down the road. Witnesses quickly intervened by calling the police and also blocking the man’s truck so he couldn't continue driving.

The dogs have been seen by a veterinarian and their injuries are minor, thanks in no small part to the people who intervened.

The man has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty and his dogs have been returned to him.

We ask Wilmot Council and Mayor Armstong to err on the side of caution and remove the dogs from this man’s care until it can be legally determined whether he is balanced and caring enough to keep animals. At the very least, this man displayed terribly poor judgement, and monitoring the dogs’ situation is not enough to ensure their continued safety.
