No Development of Norsemen Park at 23rd & Lonsdale without a Referendum !
Children and Families need wide open spaces to play.
After extensive consultation with City residents, Council undertook to preserve the current uses of Norsemen and MacDougall fields.
Meeting, Monday, January 10th, 2011: Moved THAT Norsemen and Mickey MacDougall fields and their current field uses be preserved in the renewal of the Harry Jerome Recreation Centre.
On June 26, 2017, without adequate new consultation the CURRENT Council voted to RESCIND that preservation.
Below is how the Council voted:
In Favour of Rescinding: Councillors: Holly Back, Linda Buchanan, Craig Keating, Don Bell, Pam Bookham, Rod Clark.
ALL Councillors voted for rescinding.
Many residents who fought so hard for keeping the park and field DO NOT WANT TO LOSE NORSEMEN PARK or MICKEY MacDOUGALL FIELD in the renewal of Harry Jerome Recreation Centre.
We demand that a REFERENDUM in October 2018 be used to decide once-and-for-all whether Norsemen Park and Mickey MacDougall Field and their current uses be preserved in the renewal of Harry Jerome Recreation Centre.
Please sign our Petition to USE A REFERENDUM TO GIVE CITY RESIDENTS THE CHOICE OF PRESERVING THE USES OF OUR PARKS !
