Anthony Majestro started this petition to Mayor Amy Goodwin and Charleston City Council

For the past year, those of us who live in the East End of Charleston, W.Va. have been spared parking tickets for forgetting to move our vehicles for street cleaning.  We understand that this forbearance is going to stop soon, and the city will again write tickets when we forget to move our vehicles.

We are the only neighboorhood in Charleston that is subject to being ticketed for street cleaning.   The $25 tickets are grossly excessive.  We have gone an entire year without issuing tickets and are streets still seem to get cleaned.

The residents of the East End are proud of their neighborhood.  A voluntary campaign to ask people to move their vehicles on street cleaning days would likely get the streets cleaned without punishing our residents who may forget one day or visitors who are not aware of the rules.
