Scotch Plains is a town that promotes diversity and equality for all of its residents and contains a significant number of people of all races colors and creeds. That being said, many of these Scotch Plains residents have watched in horror as the history of this country and their own ancestors have been attacked and demolished across the country. The effect of destruction and desecration of our history is an attack on the United States and a disservice to our children and grandchildren.

There is currently a statue of Christopher Columbus's hand that sits in the center of town in front of the Scotch Plains police department and municipal building. We, as taxpayers of a town demand that the statue is kept in place and retained in its current form.  Having a statue in front of the most notable building in town only provides an opportunity to celebrate the amazing country in which we live and the contributions made not only be Christopher Columbus but all the important contributors to this great land.

We Demand the Christopher Columbus statue be kept as is and protected for future generations.
