Maximum Speed Limited of 55 MPH to due Energy Crisis
The Issue
Please mandate a 55 mph maximum speed limit-no higher-we do have an energy crisis. There is no reason why this cannot be done for the betterment The People.
Benefits: Save on fuel and money. Save lives. Save on disability claims and insurance premiums due to reduced auto accidents. It's common sense.
Deaths, Injuries Increase With Higher Speed Limits. To save lives, government should enact new interstate laws, researchers say July 9, 2009
"THURSDAY, July 16 (HealthDay News) -- Deaths and injuries on America's interstates have increased since the repeal of the federal 55-mile-per-hour speed limit in 1995, a new study finds, and some believe it's time to slow down again."

PS: A 55 mph zone would also increase revenue to the individual States with more traffic citations. For each mile over the speed limit increases the traffic fines.
