Mayor Victorino: Open The Gates for Humane Access to Water & Bathrooms

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

Aloha Mayor Victorino,

Thank you for making sound decisions for the safety and well being of our less fortunate residents of Maui County.

Due to to ticketing in other county park areas of Maui, those living in their cars have increased at Kanahā Beach Park. There was a porta potty delivered and a spicket off the water main but one hose is serving 75 people.

Your decision to have other park gates remain locked is unrelated to the need at Kanahā. The facilities in this area have been well maintained and respected. The opening of this selected beach is essential to the safety and well being of your fellow Maui residents.

Exhaustive efforts have been made by contacting, working with and meeting with Maui County administrative heads to no avail. The departments that have been asked to assist with solutions are: Department of Housing and Human Concerns Lori Tsuhako, her two lead administrators,  Parks and Recreation District Supervisor Mary Kielty, two of her department leads, Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Deputy Managing Director Josiah Nishita and the Civil Defense.

Please open the gate to Kanahā Beach Park.

Sincerely, Those Who Care for Maui County and Residents
