Legalize Marijuana in Rhode Island

Legalize Marijuana in Rhode Island
Why this petition matters
Too many people have been hurt because of draconian marijuana laws. We the Signors of this petition wish to thank the Rhode Island General Assembly for reducing marijuana use and possession to a civil offense, which has reduced the harm caused by such laws.
We the Signors of this petition wish to further reduce harm caused by marijuana laws by urging the Rhode Island General Assembly to move on legalizing according to the proposed Bill, H5795, and to pass this bill posthaste.
We the Signors of this petition also wish to let the General Assembly know that, upon passage of H5795, legalization will also bring about safer marijuana, as We know that some marijuana has been laced with dangerous substances, including but not limited to, black-market fentanyl and even hydrogen cyanide, as revealed by local news sources. Taking control from the black market will ensure that marijuana is safe for human consumption and free from contamination.
Please pass Bill H5795, so Rhode Island can also acquire tax revenue from recreational marijuana sales. Many examples of taxed marijuana show that economies boom around the sales taxes imposed upon marijuana, and frankly, Rhode Island's economy stinks right now, and could use a boost.
