Stop Illegal OHV/eMotos at Hawes Trail System
eMotos are illegally riding Hawes trail systems and others in Arizona that do not allow Motorized Off Highway Vehicles. These riders typically know they are breaking the law. The electric motorcycles they ride can reach speeds up to 50 mph, and have no pedals. Other than the law, here are the two main concerns with eMotos on non-motorized trails.
1. Safety for all trail users. Think of a bike rider or hiker, or horseback rider coming around a blind turn, into an eMoto at full speed. It will happen, and there will be injuries.
2. eMotos are damaging the Federally Approved trail system. The proof is there on the trails. Rut marks from burn outs due to all that power. Braking skids marks nd more. These trails are not designed for that kind of abuse and will become a loose mess of erosion with eMoto use.
