Require Boarding Facilities to be Regulated!! Lets start Bailey's Law!!!

During Labor Day weekend my brother and sister-n-law boarded their dogs at the boarding facility, Jerry's Paw Spa, in North Richland Hills. On the way home on Monday September 7, 2015 my brother received a voicemail from the owner, Jerry Miller Conger, stating that one of their dogs had bitten the other one and it was just a scratch and nothing to worry about in a voicemail left on the owner's phone. After they showed up at the boarding facility they found their dog, Bailey, had puncture wounds on her hind end and had been put in a crate for six hours bleeding while no one was at the facility. Their others dogs were sitting in pee and poop because it turned out that there are no drains in the kennels. They rushed Bailey to the 24 hour animal hospital because she wouldn't even walk when they got there and had to drag her back legs when she was trying to get to her mommy. After surgery, almost $1,400 worth of medical bills and having to stay overnight Bailey finally is able to come home to recoup.

The problem is that in the state of Texas, there is no type of regulation for boarding facilities we found out AFTER all of this happened. The detective said that he couldn't do anything, even though we had found more people with horrible experiences, except for just file a report and take them to small claims court.

THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!!! How come if we get a hair cut they have to be licensed and if it is a vet they have to be licensed as well? The health department needs to have a system in place to monitor the type of conditions that are going on in these type of facilities and regulate how many dogs that they are allowed to watch. Please help me change this loop hole in our legal system and protect our animals!
