MAKE PSA TESTS AUTOMATICALLY AVAILABLE FOR MEN AGED 50 AND OVER
Over 10,000 men die each year from Prostate Cancer. This figure can be greatly reduced if men are treated equally to women.
A simple, cost-effective blood test available from GP’s helps screen for the signs of this disease and could save countless lives each year. Like many medical tests, the PSA is not 100% accurate and has its failings - but not offering it at all is failing men right now. A close friend only found out that he had this disease when he had the PSA test that he asked for. I’ve since heard of other men who’ve had the same frightful experience.
Men should be offered this just as Smear tests, and Breast Cancer screening, are routinely for women. GP’s are not required to offer this test to you and some won’t do so. Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men, yet when it comes to national screening, early diagnosis, treatment and best of all, prevention – the NHS doesn’t operate as it does for women.
We need the government to act on this and help save more men’s lives.
LET’S “C” EQUALITY FOR MEN AND CHANGE THIS SITUATION, NOW
