There used to be a time when people did not talk about their political candidates or their voting choices.

In a free society it should be a given that our political beliefs are protected under the First Amendment. However this gives the US citizens very little in regards to relief or compensation for a violation of our freedom of thought & expression in a political setting!

Many Conservatives have faced extreme scrutiny, harrassment & displacement from jobs & careers as a result of expressing ones beliefs in a heated political battle. We the People should NEVER have to fear retribution from employers, housing & libelous reporting!

This should be considered an act of discrimination & should not be tolerated in any setting! To have & show pride for your President, State Rep. or Country shall NEVER be cause for discrimination. Individuals need to have a method to remedy this blatant attempt to silence one side or the other.

If "political affiliation" was a protected class like the handicapped, those of a different race or sexual identity etc. We would have a veil of protection under the discrimination act that will make it possible to seek retribution and/or legal recourse for targetted harrassment.

This would also help to calm the rhetoric of the few & force an individual to be responsible for his actions & discrimination.
