I want to see my fellow Kenyans enjoy better living standards, and that includes transport.

Many of us, Nairobi residents, take Matatus to and from home especially in Nairobi because we have no alternative    We are then subjected to the indignity of poorly maintained buses and matatus. These vehicles break down randomly, leak when it rains, soiling your outfit for work on Monday morning, have no functional windows, have dirty and worn out seats, doors that have to be held up because they are broken. The drivers overtake recklessly    know when to dodge the police, despite carrying 19 people instead of 14, amidst a myriad of other problems. Most Kenyans who take Matatus cannot afford Cab fares everyday and personal cars, hence that leaves them with no alternative other than to use what is provided.

The purpose of this petition is to get Matatu Owners to ensure that their cars are  in good condition and ensure that the source of their income(riders)receive the best customer experience and safety on the road. They need to be held accountable for rundown and dirty vehicles. They need to be held accountable for their teams behaviour. They need to provide avenues for customers to raise complaints like what Double M and City Hoppa do. There is a lot to be done in terms of training for staff and repairs of vehicles.

This petition also seeks to beseech NTSA to be more strict in dealing with Matatus especially in Nairobi and address the plight of commuters whom I represent.

As a country we ought to be ashamed to be associated with the wreck that is the Matatus we commute in daily.

I choose to speak, because even though adaptation is key for humanity, we could choose to 'adapt' to a clearly bad situation, we can say it is not that bad because it is cheap. However, complacency impedes growth. Complacency has impeded growth in the public transport sector....especially in Nairobi, and we got to do something. Matatu owners need to do better.

Help me get them to do better.......
