Nicola Cooper started this petition to Mat Hancock minister of health

I am a GP . Many of my patients on waiting lists for cancer surgery are having their surgical operations cancelled because of Covid 19 epidemic. I implore the minister of health and NHS England to consider measures to ensure that enough surgical and anaesthetic staff are kept away from treating Covid 19 patients in order to allow them to continue potentially life saving surgery during these difficult times. Hospital beds need to be earmarked for these patients so that they do not progress to ‘untreatable’ whilst Covid 19 patients are being prioritised. Otherwise I fear that these patients may become unwitting secondary victims of Covid 19. Could the private sector not be earmarked for treating such patients whilst allowing NHS hospitals to deal with Covid 19 cases?
