Masters abroad through GATE

Masters abroad through GATE
Why this petition matters
Every year lakhs of students pass B. Tech or M. Sc and appear for GATE in each branch, and only about the top 1000 can secure a seat for them in the top government institutes like IITs, NITs, and some state universities. The dream of the rest of the students to pursue higher education is shattered and the options they are left with are either to keep trying year after year to get a rank that will ensure admission to a premier institute or settle down with low-paid jobs and in the worst-case scenario remain jobless. This is really a hindrance in the path of higher education for the masses.
So, one possible solution is to approach different foreign universities as well to accept GATE rank for admission in MS or P.hD. programs. Already some of the leading Universities like NTU and NUS in Singapore and two others in Germany are accepting GATE ranks for higher education. These universities also have a fairly good world ranking. In this regard, we have taken the initiative to communicate with several other renowned universities across the world to convince them to accept GATE rank as GRE is a quite costly exam for Indian students and also the standard of GATE exam is fairly good and can be a basis of Masters along with an English proficiency test if at all required.
But we cannot accomplish this goal without the support of the Government of India. So, it is our humble request that you please extend your support to us by signing this petition so that together we can bring about a much-needed change.
We want the Education Ministry and Gate committee to help us with the following:
- To convince the foreign universities to admit the students via GATE score.
- To help the students with GATE score reporting to the universities.
- To convince the foreign universities to give merit scholarships based on GATE scores.
- To convince the foreign universities to give tuition fee subsidies.
- To convince the foreign universities to give application fee waivers
- To give stipends to students who want to study abroad.
- To convince the national banks to provide educational loans with less interest rates.
- To convince Tata group’s Air India to give discounts to the students who are travelling for educational purposes.
- To convince the foreign universities to give IELTS/TOEFL waiver as all our BTech students have english as medium of instruction.
