MHS Walk-Out Suspension
This petition made change with 57 supporters!
On March 14th, 2018, several MHS students and AMES students took part in a peaceful protest in support of the nation wide walk out to honor the victims of the Parkland shooting and stress the importance of school safety. The students were aware that they would be disciplined with the same consequences students receive for skipping classes. This is almost always a detention. However, the students from the walk out, who have no past disciplinary issues, have been unfairly given suspension. This decision is an excessive punishment and could be seen an attempt to try and silence the voices of young teens trying to make a difference. Please sign this petition to help convince the MHS Board of Education to reconsider their decision and give these students a less harsh punishment.
