Petition Closed

Massage Envy has more than 4,100 franchisees, 11,000 locations and makes $10 billion dollars in system-wide revenues.

There have been hundreds of complaints of SEXUAL ABUSE across the country reported from victims at Massage Envy. There have been some instances where these preditors have successfully been employed by multiple Massage Envy locations even after being accussed of a sexual assault.

Massage Envy's headquarters released an internal memo to their franchise locations instructing them to NOT report any complaints to the board of health.

The Problem:

- Lack of communication between Massage Envy locations and to the Department of Health (DOH)

- It is not mandatory for the police to report complaints to the DOH and Massage Envy is instructing their locations to not inform them. So who is accountable? No one.

There is a gap in the reporting process for sexual assault complaints that needs to be bridged. Either the DOH needs to mandate all local police authorities must report all battery and sexual battery complaints to the DOH. By doing so, these preditors can be stopped sooner than later. Otherwise they escape the system until a number of victims builds up to a big enough number to waive a red flag for local authorities to take action. The DOH has the ability to catch these criminals earlier.

This petition is also focused on Massage Envy for their blatent disregaurd to do everything in their power to ensure a safe environment for their consumers. The distribution on an internal document ordering the silence of such complaints from the DOH is unethical and irresponsible. This company is choosing to evade bad publicity in order to prosper financially.

It's inexcusable to have policies in place that foster a negligent organizational environment that makes it possible for predictors to bounce around between their establishments, continueing to victimize unsuspecting consumers.

I ask that we band together to create a movement for change ... as consumers we have the power to challenge the unethical and irresponsible corporate behavior of Massage Envy. We have the ability to urge the DOH to require the police to report all compaints to the DOH to ensure there is a log of these occurances.
