When I think about immigration, I believe that all people should come to the home of the brave and free because many families and communities come to America to better themselves or their people. How can we not be willing to share a land that is variant and provides opportunities and chances for everyone, especially ones that have to deal with life-threatening or even death situations at times? I fight for this and I believe immigration policies and regulations should be changed because of the sole fact that I had to witness a person’s parents getting deported after dropping their children off to school. I will never forget the pain and tears this caused this poor child and the way I had to show sympathy when not knowing how to react to my own self. A resolution that may provide aid and assistance is the DACA program. At the time of Trump’s presidency, in September 2017, the Trump Administration announced a plan to phase out DACA, triggering multiple lawsuits challenging this action. The government deferred implementation of this plan for six months to allow Congress time to pass the DREAM Act or some other legislative protections for undocumented immigrants. Now the program is restored and active again, we should consider the fact that work authorization is a critical component of DACA for the stability of families and communities as well as contributing to the economy and businesses.
