Install Permanent Decals Honoring Mrs. Rosa Parks On All MBTA Buses In Massachusetts

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

Dear reader, In 2007, Miami, Florida installed permanent decals honoring Mrs. Rosa Parks on all public buses. Other states including Texas, Maryland and Virginia have done transportation initiatives recognizing Mrs. Parks. A Senate Bill has been filed in Massachusetts to honor Mrs. Parks every February on the MBTA buses "via L.E.D. display and or decal in the front left window of all bus transportation vehicles, or in a similar manner approved by the Authority or its designee." Sign this petition if you think Mrs. Parks should be honored not only in February but every day. Help Boston to honor Mrs. Parks' courageous activism against racism. Help Boston face history including its own busing history. Please sign this petition to help make this happen! Thank you!

Edited to add: This initiative has received lots of support from Boston's political leadership. We especially need your support to make the case for a permanent decal.

Latest update: Senator Timilty told the Boston Globe that he will amend the bill to make the decal permanent. An art contest in schools to design it is part of the proposal. This petition will be presented at the State House.

5/1/18 The latest status on the bill to recognize and honor the heroism of Mrs. Rosa Parks on MBTA buses in Massachusetts is "House Concurred."

1/5/19 The MA Senate and House passes an amended version of the bill calling for permanent recognition for Rosa Parks on MBTA buses. The bill was enacted and laid before Governor Baker. He has until 1/10 to sign.
