A Better Brookline started this petition to Massachusetts Secretary of State

Currently the Massachusetts Secretary of State does NOT permit electronic signatures for a Charter Adoption Petition. Such a petition, if successful, allows a municipality to place a ballot question in its local election regarding the formation of a charter commission. The commission would study the municipality’s government structure and recommend any potential changes. During the era of COVID-19, electronic signatures are crucial to ensuring public health and safety.

A Better Brookline (abetterbrookline.org) is gathering support to show that the Brookline community believes electronic signatures should be accepted for this petition. Please contact abetterbrookline@gmail.com if you have any questions.

NOTE: Signing this petition is NOT equivalent to signing the official Charter Adoption Petition for Brookline, MA. This change.org petition merely asks the state to allow us to gather electronic signatures for our official petition.
