Oxbridge Academy; A Petition to make masking our children a parent's choice.

This petition, created and signed by parents of Oxbridge students, outlines the harm masking children can cause, and is in support of unmasking our children. This to be done at the PARENTS'(Guardian's) discretion, making masking optional, not mandatory. 

Based on well researched data, I strongly believe wearing a face mask poses a risk to my child's health, hygiene and mental well-being. Research has shown, that the risk of severe illness from Covid19 is low in school aged children and young adults. If a person under 18yrs old contracts a variant, their symptoms are typically mild and cold-like at the worst. 

In contrast, wearing a face mask may have far greater repercussions than the threat of any Covid19 variant. Oral bacteria build-up within a mask may result in toxicity affecting the gums, throat and lungs. Covering the nose and mouth forces CO2 recirculation, limiting the O2 intake. Hypoxia (O2 deprivation) and Hypercapnia (CO2 rebreathing) impairs bodily and mental functions and can cause discomfort, drowsiness, school work reduction, dizziness, headache, fatigue, disorientation, speech impairment, exhaustion, muscular weakness or twitching, paranoia, hyperventilation, depression or panic attack, to name a few.

In addition to the health issues potentially arising from masking, children that are required to wear a mask are experiencing learning, social & psychological delays, as well as increased anxiety in their everyday lives. As a parent, I feel the risks strongly outweigh the benefits of a mask, and move to eliminate the requirement of masking children, and making masking optional, as was the policy prior to the holidays. 

Governor Ron Desantis recently passed a bill banning school districts from mandating masks. Palm Beach county school district has maintained that masks are optional. As Parents, we feel strongly that the recent mask mandate, at Oxbridge Academy, is a grave overstep of power.
