To the Maryland Public Service Commission: to those elected by the people of Maryland who represent the people of Maryland in any city, town, county, state or federal office; and to any person or persons elected by the people or appointed to represent the public trust and interest of the citizens of the State of Maryland:
We the undersigned declare that we stand in opposition to the Transource Independence Energy Connection (IEC) Project.
This proposed power line project is unnecessary. It brings no benefit to the residents of Harford County, Maryland where the project is planned to be developed.
The power lines will cross and impact:
*Deer Creek sub-watersheds: Upper Deer Creek, Plumtree/Jackson Branch, Island Branch, Big Branch
*lands in the Maryland State Route 136 corridor currently in the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, lands determined to be ecologically sensitive areas for wildlife, forest and wetland resources
*Route 136 and Route 23 Mason and Dixon segments of the Maryland Scenic Byway established ecotourism and agritourism businesses in the Norrisville community
*lands preserved by the Maryland State and Harford County Agricultural Land Preservation Programs
The 135 foot tall towers will have a detrimental impact on the natural viewsheds of the conserved Agricultural, Scenic, Historic and Environmentally important land within the Norrisville community, including the Norrisville Elementary School, Norrisville Parks and Recreation ballfields and facilities, the Norrisville branch of the Harford County Library and the Parker Conservation Area and agricultural based businesses including Shaws Orchard.
