Pass E-fairness - Require Online Retailers Pay Maryland Sales Tax
This petition had 57 supporters
Many online retailers fail to collect and remit Maryland Sales Tax. This has left Maryland businesses at a price disadvantage compared to out-of-state online retailers. The Maryland General Assembly must pass E-fairness and require out-of-state online retailers to collect and remit Maryland Sales Tax; thereby protecting jobs and producing much needed revenue. Maryland's Use Tax already requires consumers to pay sales tax on items purchased outside of the State. In other words, this is not a new tax but rather levels the playing field between Maryland brick and mortar business and out-of-state online retailers. The time to act is now!
