Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program in Maryland Schools

Suicide and Mental illness are becoming a larger issue, especially in teenagers, worldwide. 50% of Americans will reach the criteria for a mental illness at some point in their lives. On average, there is 1 suicide every 40 seconds. Millions of teens nationwide suffer in silence from mental illness, and turn to suicide. It is brought to my attention that schools and communities are not doing enough in order to raise awareness and prevent suicide. This would be solved by schools having a suicide awareness and prevention program in schools. No one deserves to commit suicide, and no one deserves to have to deal with the loss of a loved one or significant other to suicide. This is being written by someone who suffers from more than one mental illness, and believes that their school has not done enough to help those in need. Sign this petition today to save lives, and begin the battle for mental health and suicide awareness.
