There is rich history in Fredericksburg, Va. and its surounding counties. There are things like battlefields, an old apothecary, graves, a slave and property auction block and much more. This area is not tolerant of hate and has a strong black community. However, I have seen recently a protest created and signed by many people who aren't even from this area trying to have the auction block on the corner or William and Charles removed. This auction block has a place in history. For me it was a visual representation of what hate can do. This isn't a statue this is a peice of history, in its original location. IF YOU DON'T STAND WITH THE SANITIZATION OF VIRGINIA'S HISTORY PLEASE SIGN THIS PROTEST OR START MORE! Please don't beleive the media that valueing African American History somehow makes you a Nazi or White Supremacist.
IT IS NOT AND SHOULD NOT, BE UP TO WHITE PEOPLE TO STERILIZE BLACK HISTORY AND MONUMENTS.
