as a student of a nearby brisbane private school, maru has become a safe haven for students to foster positive relationships between their friends and the restaurant team between the hours of 3 to 5pm which is also when the 50% off student discount period also applies. given the recent announcement by maru management with its intention to reduce operating hours and specifically close 3 to 5pm would render this fine establishment unavailable for students right after school.

i have personally been eating at maru with my friends for many years now, and maru is distinctly recognised throughout the youth community as a safe haven for affordable and yummy food. these recent announcements will effectively close maru off from school students.

this is blatant discrimination against school students and will cause a negative externality of consumption with lower social and private benefits.

as an advocate for the local community, we are calling on maru to keep their business hours unchanged. these recent announcements disregard students as stakeholders in thriving this valued business and establishment, and i’d hate to see maru abandon pretty much their main target audience. please reconsider x
