Joe Pharaon started this petition to Marty Walsh (Mayor of Boston)
There is nothing that the straight community had to fight for, or struggle against, just because of being straight. Therefore, there are no reasons to have a Straight Pride Parade. Not only this is offensive and disrespectful to the LGBTQ+ community and allies, and also other marginalized communities, but it also undermines the meaning of pride.
The organizers have deliberately requested to follow the same route as the LGBTQ+ Pride Parade which is a step in erasing the hard fought rights and progress of the LGBTQ+ community. This is an attack on them.
We need to understand and learn more about what it means to celebrate true achievements in inclusivity.
