Class Action Lawsuit meeting - Sunday August 21st, 2016, at 10:00AM Port Carling Community Center

Aug 13, 2016 — In the spring of 2016 many of us experienced flooding of our Muskoka Lakes properties again.

Being exasperated with this ongoing flooding issue, I initiated a petition to, “Stop the Flooding of Lake Muskoka and to Change the Muskoka River Water Management Plan.” The link for that petition is listed below.

My objective with this petition was threefold:

· To highlight that the current Muskoka River Water Management Plan is not working and is causing ongoing flooding to the Muskoka Lakes.

· To highlight that the Muskoka River Water Management Plan was authored by hydro-generating companies and approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Hydro-generating companies need water to produce revenue.

· I had hoped that this petition would draw like minded people to initiate action against the Ministry of Natural Resources to protect the Muskoka Lakes and our property values.

We are pleased to report that we believe the support of the petition succeeded in accomplishing these objectives.

Oatley Vigmond LLP, an experienced class action law firm from Barrie and Toronto, has done the research and investigation to the point where they believe that the property owners on the Muskoka Lakes could initiate a class action lawsuit against the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Government.

This email is an invitation to the property owners on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, and Lake Joseph to participate in a public meeting which will be led by Oatley Vigmond LLP to highlight the steps and the funding investment needed to carry this class action forward.

The meeting is scheduled at the Port Carling Community Center at 3 Bailey Street, Port Carling, Ontario, on Sunday August 21st, 2016, in the upper hall at 10:00AM.

We believe that no organization, and no local governments can affect change at the Ontario Government level with respect to the ongoing flooding issues in the Muskoka Lakes. We believe that legal action will be the only means of protecting our investments in our property and to ensure that the Muskoka Lakes are not continuously flooded.

Even if you did not suffer damage in 2016 there is no guarantee that you will not have damage in 2017 or future years. The water management needs to be changed to ensure we are not flooded.

Please join us at this meeting! Please post this invitation and information on your social media accounts to encourage friends and neighbours to attend.

We can make a difference and affect change if we stand together!
