Yazmin Llamas-Morales started this petition to Martinez Unified School District

Mathematics is a very important subject that we all must learn.  Research shows that in order for lessons that are being taught to be fully mastered, math problems must be written out repeatedly.

The on-line platform that schools are now using to teach math has become a disservice to our children, it is not teaching math like it math should be taught.  Instead of our children writing out math problems, and having to solve and work them out on paper, students are now simply clicking through multiple choice math questions and no longer making the fine motor skills connections with their brains that writing out math problems requires.  Children are not grasping or making the in depth connections that they should be learning in the subject of mathematics via the new on-line teaching platforms.

Math should be taught by a live instructor, textbook, paper and pencil, so that students develop and master the connections via repeatedly writing out math problems and making the necessary connections that are required in order to fully learn the subject material.

STOP teaching math to our children via on-line programs! Bring back the live instructor, text book, paper and pencil!

*** It should be noted that I’m not blaming the teachers. They’re just following curriculum. I don’t agree with the online format.
