Save the 100-year-old trees in Old Ottawa East

Greystone Village development project, run by Regional Group and EQhomes, is attempting to obtain a permit from the city to cut down two 100+year-old maple trees on the boarder of Regional's property and a residence on Springhurst Ave. The original development plan was approved based in part on a commitment to preserve these two trees. Greystone applied for a permit to remove these trees without telling the community, and delayed a meeting with residents by by several days while applying for the permit. Residents were originally given 48 hours to appeal the permit after being told about the process. Greystone has already cut down dozens of other mature trees in their development of the former Oblates property. The City is now planning to issue a permit for cutting down the trees as early as August 15. Please sign the petition below to let the city and Regional Group know that we demand these trees be saved!
