Jeffrey Reynolds started this petition to Marshall University's President & Board of Governors

Marshall Head Football Coach John "Doc" Holliday was, without merit, dismissed by Marshall's President, Dr. Jerome Gilbert on Jan. 4, 2021. Coach Holliday is one of the most successful Head Football Coaches in Marshall history.

Coach Holliday has been the Head Football Coach at Marshall University in Huntington, WV for the last 11 seasons and during that time he has:

  • Coached the Herd for 139 football games, the most in Marshall history;
  • Won 85 games which ranks him second all-time in MU Football Coaching wins;
  • Had winning seasons in 8 of his 11 seasons, including the past 4 including 2020;
  • Led the Herd to 8 Post-Season Bowls Games in 11 seasons, winning 6 of them;
  • Led the Herd to a C-USA Conference Championship in 2014 and 3 C-USA East Division Championships including in 2020;
  • Been awarded the C-USA Conference Coach of the Year for this past 2020 season;
  • Become beloved by thousands of Marshall Alumni, Former and Current Herd Players, Students and Fans.

Therefore, we ask that Marshall's President, Dr. Jerome Gilbert and the Marshall University Board of Governors hereby rescind and change the decision to dismiss Coach John "Doc" Holliday and immediately reinstate him to the position of Head Football Coach of Marshall University.
