The return periods and advisory have been useless since day one. If FCPS has to follow a protocol, then keep advisory (even though it is pointless). But return periods?! GET RID OF THOSE! Why would I attend my third period classroom when I have a quiz in seventh period I need to talk to my teacher about?! FCPS is punishing kids who do their work, just because a couple kids skip class. What kind of democracy is this? Replace the return periods with Learns. Now. It’d be so much more helpful, especially to students who care about their grades. Not to mention the effect that COVID and the snow days have had on students. We’re going to be cramming the end of every unit in every class before the end of the semester. And you want me spending time of my day in a return class?? Where teachers don’t even follow the rules and DO teach new material?? Advisory was implemented to help mental health… guess what, not being able to do my homework worsens my anxiety. Give the students back THEIR time to use as THEY please.
