Why this petition matters

The Judicial system in Zimbabwe have continuously refused to grant Marry permission to seek medical attention outside Zimbabwe.

  • Marry is gravely ill with sepsis syndrome and her condition is life threatening and has now been hospitalised. In 2020 the Court were warned that if Marry did not receive specialist treatment which was not available in Zimbabwe then she would have to get her forearm amputated but the Court did not take the report seriously. Now a report from Dr. John S Nyahunzvi dated 29 March 2022 indicates that amputation is now necessary once Marry is deemed medically stable
  • Marry has not been allowed to see her children since 2019 and when the High Court allowed her to have access to her children, her ex husband, Vice President Chiwenga appealed to the Supreme Court and had the High Court decision reversed meaning that Marry would not be allowed to see her children . Marry is not a danger to her children but the Supreme Courts's decision is now denying those children their right to family life and Marry's right to be a mother.
  • Marry is being dragged through the Courts despite being very ill as the public who have seen her physically can testify. She has also collapsed twice outside the court but the Court has not shown any compassion towards her suffering. In contrast Prisca Mupfumira a former government Minister who was implicated in the looting of $US95M of state funds was given permission to not attend court because she said she was not mentally fit to attend court and was even granted permission to travel abroad on a business trip.
  • Marry was arrested in 2019 for allegedly breaching the marriage act. She is also accused of trying to kill her then husband Vice President Chiwenga when he was in hospital in South Africa although he was under guard for 24 hours a day and the hospital has CCTV which could easily prove this allegation but that evidence has not been forthcoming when Marry's Council have requested for it. Additionally she also faces charges of fraud and money laundering
  • A grave injustice is being perpetrated against Marry and if we do not ACT NOW she will lose her life.
  • Marry has a right to life and a right to receive adequate medical care. Please sign the petition and lets help Marry to live and see her children.

We are petitioning President Mnangagwa and the Government of Zimbabwe, Parliament of Zimbabwe, The Zimbabwe Gender Commission, Ministry of Women Affairs Zimbabwe, Gender and Community Development, The First Lady of Zimbabwe Mrs Mnangagwa, Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), Monica Mutsvangwa (Minister of Information and Publicity and Broadcasting Services), Dr Lazarus Chakwera (Chairperson SADC), Macky Sall (Chairperson African Union), Vicky Ford (Minister for Africa FCO UK) Sima Sami Bahous (Executive Director UN Women) Robert Ragnar Spano (President European Courts of Human Rights) and US State Department.
