I Kerry Harps, a black military veteran, along with my family is being evicted from TownePlace Suites by Marriott Redding for invalid reasons. At 11:00 am Monday morning we was told by the Veteran Resource Center that we thrashed our room and had to get out immediately. When we heard this we immediately went to the front desk and asked them for a Valid reason why we had to leave. First off we had only been here since the 5th of July and no one has been in our room for them to even say it was thrashed. Then we asked them to inspect our room to see if it was as they said thrashed. They didn't find any signs of it being thrashed, the only thing that was messed up was a cabinet door that was already broke when we moved into the room. We told the maintenance man and he came to get the cabinet door to fix it, thats why it was missing off the hinge. The assistant general manager said she was going to talk to the General Manager and then make a desicion. Secondly, when they came to inspect our dog was excited cause she is a puppy she tinkled a little bit in the hallway. The assistant General manager then looked at my husband and said no im going to stick to my gun, you guys have to leave cause the dog had a little accident. They had no valid reason to evict us, but they decided to evict us anyway. Lastly, we was told to leave that day with three kids and other Veterans got to stay another night or was not asked to leave at all. They told them we was the ones who caused them to have to leave, mind you there was another Veterans Couple who had 4 dogs and they was the ones who had a thrashed room. Instead of them just making them just leave they decided to throw us under the bus and say we did something wrong. We are victims of prejudice and racial discrimination, and we are demanding justice. We are asking that we continue our stay until our time is up which is paid for until August 17th. And that the lady that handle this situation be fired for being prejudging and racial discrimination before even having evidence that we did anything wrong.
