Grant heritage protection to the Beynon & Hayward building at 6 Livingstone Road, Petersham

This petition made change with 512 supporters!

A professional assessment found that the Beynon & Hayward building, at 6 Livingstone Road Petersham, was of significant heritage value due to its unusual and iconic design and as one of the few older industrial buildings left in the Inner West.  It also has a significant social history, belonging to a former Mayor.

Marrickville Council wants to redevelop the site with a developer to expand the council car park and build apartments.  If heritage protection is granted, redevelopment can still go ahead, however, heritage values will need to be proected.

In July, the council voted 6 - 6 to refuse heritage protection, leaving the building vulnerable to demolition.

The decision will be revisited by Councillors in August.  Last time the vote was very close, so you're help is needed.  Sign the petition if you want Marrickville Council to protect this iconic building.
