On March 31st, the life of Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom was ruthlessly taken  at 3420 W. Slauson Avenue. He was a prolific musical genius, pillar of the community, and made immeasurable contributions to his community. He was invested in economic growth and long term sustainability. Traditionally, April the 1st is a day of meaningless jokes, but on this year several hundreds of people spent this day gathering and mourning the death of the heartbeat of the Crenshaw/Slauson area, Nipsey Hussle. This area falls within the 8th District which is under the jurisdiction of City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson. He is our representation on the City Council and is responsible for addressing the people’s concerns. It was decided by the citizens of the community at the gathering  that April 1st will be a day from now on out to reclaim and celebrate the life of Ermias by renaming April Fools Day, Nipsey Hussle Day. It is important to provide the community with a permanent acknowledgement of an individual who gave his life to improve his neighborhood and surrounding areas. Please help the marathon continue by signing this petition in unity that April Fools Day be renamed Nipsey Hussle Day in the city of Los Angeles.
