Recently I was clearing out my room and found soo many unused hangers that were just going to have to go into landfill as I didn’t have that many clothes that needed to be hung up.

I must have got rid of at least 40 of them and I was just wondering to myself what if the shops I’d got them from eg h and m, m and s, new look, river island, etc, - I mean pretty much any clothes store - could take back the hangers and reuse them for their new clothes. This would a, save money for them and b, reduce our waste and plastic going into landfill. It’s all around a better practicality for everyone.

Most clothes are sold in shops in some sort of plastic whether that’s a hanger or some packaging. They’re not much we can do about packaging but the hangers could definitely be reused by shops. My idea was for customers to return any hangers that they had got from a specific shop if they no longer need to use them and have no more benefit from them.

This is the case so often with so many people as one will buy a top on a hanger then store it in a drawer therefore having no use for the hanger and eventually chucking it away into landfill so for shops to reuse hangers, well it would just be ideal.

It’s hard to change a lot at once like our carbon footprint and green house gases etc but if we change little by little, one thing at a time, I feel as though there is hope yet for our planet and this is how I’ve decided to play my part.
