Facebook is refusing to take down campaign ads that are clearly not factual. Considering that social media has become a top influencer in many areas of our lives, but especially in politics, social media companies like Facebook should not forget the great responsibility coming with being an influencer. 

Not taking down campaign ads that are spiked with downright lies are a dangerous influence on the politics in our country. I am even going so far as claiming they are falling under the category of meddling with our election. The American people deserve to be told the truth by influencers, to be able to make a truly informed decision, when they use their right to vote.

Every private Facebook user can and will be subject to a post being taken down if it is not in line with “community standards,” or if it contains misinformation. Fraudulent business ads are also taken down, when reported; and rightfully so. These standards should also apply to political groups/parties.

Please support this petition, to remind Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg of their great responsibility in today’s world, to shield their users from “fake news;” this should definitely also include misleading campaign ads.
