Call on Facebook to support emoji domains!

Emoji usage is on the rise.  Billions of people use emojis in text messaging, email, and on Social Networks like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. 

In 2015, AdWeek found that 92 percent of online consumers use emojis. The numbers for social media usage are even more outstanding.  According to another article in AdWeek, emoji usage on Facebook tops 60 million per day, and over 5 billion in Facebook Messenger.  

While emoji usage seems here to stay, is the same true for emoji domains?

One factor that may tip the balance in favor on emoji domains is that users can optimize an emoji domain for search engines.  This means website owners can rank for emoji-based searches on google.  According to an article in Search Engine Journal, SEO expert and CEO of Rusty Brick, Barry Schwartz found that Google provides search results or images that correspond to each emoji used in the search query.  In addition, Matt Southern found that Google is “indexing and placing more value into emojis”.

Imagine a world where people can use emojis on Social Networks and also own an actual emoji domain.

Fast forward to 2017 and enter Jon Roig and Godaddy’s https://i❤️.ws website where people can buy emoji domains.  That’s right the emoji domain gold rush is here. People are scooping up emoji domains every day. There is even a secondary market for both single character and double character domains on sites like www.emojiurl.com and www.emojiempires.com

We know people love to use emojis on Facebook. We also know that billions of people use emojis to express their feelings and emojis on Facebook each day.  While Facebook fails to support emoji domains, other social network like Twitter fully support emoji domain linking.

There are dozens of places within Facebook for people to use emoji domains. But Facebook does not support the use of emoji URLs or emoji Domains.

Ask Facebook to start supporting emoji domains and emoji URLs.
