Jonathan Roberts started this petition to Virginia Senator Mark Warner (VA Sen.) and

I aim to end the ability for employers to terminate and condem marijuana users by any employers located in "legal" states. All marijuana users in "legal" states should be protected under the law just as everyone else is, and wrongful termination due to the failing of a drug screening test by a  substance that is thereby legal should not be grounds of termination. It is widely known that THC stays in the human body for 30 to 45 days after consumption, meaning the user clearly could have used the substance far before the time of their shift, leaving absolutely no reason for the employer to suspect usage on company grounds. Company grounds being private property, they will remain the right to terminate and removal, if the substance is found on company property. It is unfair to refuse marijuana users in legal states fair and equal opportunity of employment while still maintaining their legal consumption of cannabis and THC infused consumables in their state. All drugs not legal in said state, showing up on a drug screening test will still remain grounds for termination due to the substances being illegal, this petition only aims to protect LEGAL CONSUMERS OF CANNABIS AND THC INFUSED CONSUMABLES, I DO NOT CONDONE THE ILLEGAL CONSUMPTION OF ANY SUBSTANCE.
