Cheesman Park Off-Leash Dog Area: South-West Corner

The City of Denver is under served when it comes to Off-Leash Dog Parks.  The goal is to find a suitable location for an Off-Leash Dog Park that will allow residents to walk their dogs from home and allow them to socialize with other dogs.

There was an Off-Leash Dog area at Josephine and Colfax that was an appropriate size, but it will be reduced to only a quarter acre when the Rec Center is complete. There is room in the South-West corner of Congress Park for an area that will be 0.5 acres or more, but not a full acre.  Cheesman Park on the other hand is centrally located and has ample space for an off-leash area that will be more than 1 acre.

The Proposal is for the City of Denver to grant a variance to the Historic Cheesman park and permit a dog park to be installed in the South-West Corner of the park.  An off-leash dog park in this location will also help the city move towards accomplishing the Master Plan put in place in 2010.
