In light of the incredible international solidarity shown to the people of Ukraine by both the Dutch people and the broader international community, this petition aims to turn all that support towards a cause that has the potential to make a real difference in these dark times. Namely, to channel this united outcry to the highest level, towards Ukraine’s Accession into the European Union being supported by the Dutch government.

This is a cause that has the potential to turn the tide in favor of the heroic Ukrainian people. The people who are fighting in a war they should never have to fight, against an invader far larger, one they are fighting alone. A war to preserve the European way of life, a conflict where the democracy and freedom that are par for the course in our way of life, hangs in the balance. In the words of our President of the European Commission, “Ukraine is one of us, and we want them in EU”. Let us show them the true meaning of solidarity, and what a united Europe is capable of in the face of our toughest trial.
