STOP poorly planned multi housing development on McPherson Landing Road
Why this petition matters

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in regards to the proposed development called Chase Landing off of McPherson Landing Road down Highway 69 South in Tuscaloosa, AL. I just received notification via mail of this development on Saturday, November 30, 2019 and it appears that the meeting to vote on this development is set for Wednesday, December 4, 2019. I know after speaking with several of my neighbors that there are many concerns in regards to this development, and I feel like we were not given ample time to address these concerns. I would like to see this issue tabled for now and a meeting set up with the developer, engineer, and the county commissioner inviting those directly impacted by this development so that we can have our questions and concerns heard prior to the vote being made.
I have listed a few of our major concerns below for your review:
*The waiver to have smaller lots than what is listed on the Tuscaloosa County Website
*The proposed detention pond
• how it is an eyesore to adjacent properties
• the health risk involved when it isn’t maintained properly
• who is going to ensure it is maintained properly
• the fact that we have several of these throughout the county already that have had issue after issue whennot being maintained, yet we continue to approve these as a viable method of turning farmland into money making schemes
*McPherson Landing road is already very congested during peak hours and with the addition of 77 garden homes that will put anywhere between 77-154 minimum additional cars on an already congested road
*Overcrowding our schools. BSE alone has 398 students currently enrolled and growing every day. We only have 3-4 classrooms possible for growth and they are already being used by Special Education teachers, extended day etc and these programs and teachers would be forced out of their current rooms to make room for more kids that would be enrolled in BSE due to such a large development. Most of the classrooms are already oversized with 27-30 kids in the classroom as it stands today.
*The plan for septic system being pumped across McPherson Landing Road all the way to Kings Ridge septic system that already has had issues
*Property values
Thank you for your time and I hope that we can schedule a meeting soon to discuss these concerns. There are many neighborhoods that would be affected by such a rash decision.
