The office of the presidency of the US is bigger than any one man. This is a historic event that should be valued and respected.

It is an honor to be included in the celebration of the 45th peaceful transfer of power following the recent national election of our new President and Vice President. I am a proud alumnus and will be cheering our student musicians. God Bless America, God Bless Marist.

They deserve it, they earned it. I respect and support the members who chose not to go, just as much as I support the ones who are taking this once in a life time opportunity. I just do not like people who have no skin in the game tell others what they should or should not do. The only ones who get hurt by boycotting are the band members. These people who say the brand name of Marist hurts them because they went there is hogwash - we all do not come out of Marist with the same, we were taught to think for ourselves.

As a long-time member of the Marist community, I believe this is another great opportunity for the students to experience a unique life event; and yes, raise the visibility of the institution in another manner like MIPO, athletics, and many national academic accolades.

I happened to be driving one of the members home the other night from a new year party. She sounded so excited to have this opportunity, I think they deserve it. What a great honor.
