According to ABC 4 Corners an Australian citizen Yang Hengjun is being held in detention in Beijing. Lawyers and the Australian foreign affairs minister have made attempts to speak with him but have failed. This situation has now gone on for 3 months and his wife does not not know if he is alive. His wife has pleaded with the Australian Government for help.
One Australian citizen being detained without legal representation and our Government being powerless to secure his release places all Australians in danger should they travel overseas.
