Marion County Schools spent $85,000 in order to develop 5 “climate control packets”. These packets are meant to be used when it cold, but road conditions are clear. Windchills Wednesday were as low as 1°, yet the packs were not utilized. We, the students and parents of Marion County, request an explanation as to what justifies the use of these packs. Especially considering a climate control day was called for less harsh temperatures. With the money that was spent to develop the packs, it would seem only logical to use them when the conditions warrant, however the BOE seems to have a different definition of what warrants their use. It is for that reason we request an explanation as to what results in the use of a climate control day and why a climate control day was not called on Wednesday, March 6th.
